Export your records for your accountant

spentr can hand your tax preparer a spreadsheet, a formatted report, an audit-ready file with receipt images, or a Schedule C summary. Here is where to find each one and what it contains.

In short

  • On the web, open Profile → Reports & exports.
  • Pick what to include (expenses, trips, hours, or everything) and a date range.
  • Spreadsheets are free. Formatted PDFs need Pro; audit-ready and Schedule C reports need Business.
  • PDF reports open a preview. Choose Print / Save PDF to save the file.

Most accountants want the spreadsheet plus either the formatted report or the tax report. The audit-ready report is the one to keep with your records in case the IRS asks to see receipts.

Create a report

  1. Sign in at spentr.app and open Profile.
  2. Under Tools & preferences, choose Reports & exports.
  3. Choose what to include: expenses, trips, hours, or all records.
  4. Set the period. For a tax return, choose the full calendar year.
  5. Pick a format and choose Create. A CSV downloads right away; a PDF opens in a preview.
  6. In the preview, choose Print / Save PDF, then Save as PDF in your browser’s print dialog.
Before exporting for a tax return, check that each expense has the right business and category. It’s much faster to fix in spentr than in a spreadsheet afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Can I export only some expenses?

Yes. Select the records you want in your expenses list and export just those.

Why is a format locked?

Formatted PDFs are part of Pro. Audit-ready and Schedule C tax reports are part of Business. Spreadsheets are available on every plan.

Can I export from the iPhone app?

Yes. The app offers the same report types. The steps above are for the web.
